The scene I chose to depict for this assignment is a scene from the movie "P.S. I Love You." This scene is towards the beginning of the movie, at the funeral of Holly's husband, Jerry. The first thing you will notice is the location of the funeral, a bar. Moreover, I noticed the black attire of everyone attending. One might think that it is normal to wear black to a funeral although I find this a little strange because everyone is dress formally and appropriately for a funeral...at a bar. During the first minute of the scene there is soft music playing in the background. The music sounds to be irish music, which can connect the dots of why they are at a bar due to the stereotype that Irishmen drink a lot. Continuing on the focus of music, when the priest begins to speak the background music is turned off. This can be assumed because after the priest's few short words, Jerry's favorite song plays. While the song is playing, people are going up to pay their respects by taking shots of whiskey. While they're taking these shots, the mood in the song changes to a more vulgar and fun mood. By not even knowing Jerry, his personality is coming to life. Another interesting aspect from the scene is when the priest joins along in the vulgar part of Jerry's favorite song. One can also tell that this song describes Jerry's personality because as the vulgar part of the song begins, Holly breaks down into tears. Before this part, Holly seems to keep great composure in accepting the fact that her husband has passed away.
