Peer Review

Peer reviewing is a great and essential way of editing an essay or paper. I feel that the goal of this is to have an outside opinion of how well or poorly a paper is written. While writing a paper it is not uncommon to get ahead of yourself and skip out essential points to help the reader follow. Not only is it helpful for the editing the structure, but also for grammar mistakes. Personally, I would not true in a paper without having it peer reviewed by at least one other person. As a writer, most of my mistakes will be found in my punctuation, therefore the most helpful feedback is editing my punctuation and fragment choices. As a peer reviewer, I feel that time is the most important thing I need. It is important to me because while trying to really edit someones paper I hate feeling rushed. If I am feeling rushed I will not edit to the best of my ability. I feel as though the time that should be allotted for peer review depends on the length of the paper, but usually 20-30 minutes will suffice. I prefer to be in larger groups while editing so that more than one other person can edit my essay. Furthermore, I feel that picking my own editing group is more beneficial because I will feel more comfortable with giving in depth corrections as well as feel comfortable asking questions regarding the main points. Overall, I think that peer reviewing is a extremely beneficial element of writing a paper before turning it in for a final grade.
