First Speech Outline

ETHOS
What is my ethos? - The way I present my speech to the class.
How will I develop my credibility? - Through the stories and experiences I share with the class.
What are my weak points (both body language and content)? - Shaky voice.
How can I overcome these weak points? - I will practice a lot, slow down when speaking and take deep breaths during my pauses. 

PATHOS
What emotional responses are appropriate given my speech content? - I will give a neutral expression while presenting with a more upbeat flow. The content I am telling is not so much sad nor funny.
How can I foster emotional connection? - Eye contact with audience as well as a steady and calm pace.
What emotions do I need to avoid? - While talking about my family I want to avoid a negative or sad emotion. Some of the content may come off as sad although I do not feel it to be that way.

LOGOS
What is my logical structure? - Flowing from each main topic while connecting them as I go. 

  1. Introduction 
    1.  Focusing on the three main components of my life: career, family, and entertainment, I have found myself to be a very independent person. Along with this independence I have the characteristics of being determined and adventurous. 
  2. Career 
    1. Throughout high school I was always unsure about what I wanted to become in the real world
    2. Senior year homecoming: danced with the handicapped kids the whole night. 
      1. Looked into physical therapy for kids with disabilities
    3. Took classes to line up for PT, found I didn't enjoy them & wasn't for me
    4. Jesus Prom: one of the best nights of college. 
      1. Still want to work with disabled kids but not sure what
  3. Family
    1. Middle child - independent
      1. Mom & younger sister (Rachel) are closer, while Dad & older brother (Tommy) are closer
      2. Church: sign of peace
      3. Relationship with siblings
        1. Very close with Tommy due to close age
        2. Not as close with Rachel although becoming closer as she get older
          1. Look out of her more
      4. From Wisconsin: 8 hours away 
        1. Only went home for Thanksgiving and Christmas break
      5. Family has given me a determined and independent personality 
        1. Didn't step foot on UK campus until summer registration although was determined to attend the university 
        2. Extended family is from all over the United States
  4. Entertainment
    1. Same group of best friends since 5th grade
    2. Same best friend at UK since first day of rush
    3. Joined Chi Omega
      1. Didn't know anything about sorority life
        1. adventurous 
    4. Out spoken and enjoy being the leader
      1. Like to make plans for the day/weekends 
  5. Conclusion 
    1. By looking at the connections between my career, family, and social life I have found to have a determined and adventurous personality while always holding my independence.
